About the St. George Mission Team:
Thank you for visiting the St. George Mission Team page. We are currently preparing for our 5th mission team trip which is scheduled for June 23 to 29, 2024. We will work with the Appalachia Service Project (ASP), that coordinates volunteers to perform home repairs for low-income families in Appalachia. ASP is a Christian ministry that inspires hope and service to those less fortunate. In addition to repairing homes, we will develop relationships with the homeowners to make them feel loved and cared for as Jesus did as a carpenter. No experience is necessary! We hold monthly training meetings starting in February, to learn what is needed prior to going on the trip. The monthly training meetings are mandatory and include: 1) How our faith calls us to serve; 2) Sensitivity and cultural training; 3) Construction and tool safety; 4) Fundraising to cover expenses; and 5) Team building. This year our mission team decided to expand to include local Orthodox churches and invite them to be part of our team. We are blessed to have Father Thomas Manual, from Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church and some of his community members join us this year.
It is so inspiring to see what a faith building project this is for both our youth and adult leaders who attend.
