Athos, Gregory was a champion of hesychastic prayer — the prayer of stillness achieved through the use of the Jesus Prayer as is noted above. Great Lent is a perfect time to cultivate this “Prayer of the Heart.” Gregory battled his opponents and won the day. Let us pray for the intercession of this great Father and Saint! |
