Our sister Christina “Bina” Kangelaris, a teacher in our Sunday School program, was called by the Lord to Himself on November 6 in the 28the year of her earthly life. A faithful Orthodox Christian, she chose as her personal motto for living a verse from St. Paul’s letter to the Thessalonians: “Encourage One Another and Build Each Other Up” (I Thessalonians 5:11)  Building up and caring for  other people was what Christina’s life was all about. She is survived by her loving parents Alex and Debbie, and her three siblings Andy (wife Laura), Emily (husband Caleb), and Melanie (husband Greg).

The Funeral Service will be private (family only) due to Covid-19 and to allow the family to grieve with quiet dignity. However, the funeral service itself and other information will be posted by Sunday at the following link:  https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1U_GkpQN3FD-xjDZnBDZNI8dDyi6MNRgA so that extended family and dear friends may celebrate a life lived with dignity and grace.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made to the “Christina Kangelaris Philanthropic Fund” that is established to help the poor, the destitute, the hungry, the aged, those with disabilities and victims of disasters.  To contribute to this fund contact: https://stgphiloptochosbethesda.square.site/ or by check to St. George Philoptochos with “Christian Kangelaris Philanthropic Fund” on the memo line and mailed to The Greek Orthodox Church of St. George, c/o Philoptochos, 7701 Bradley Blvd., Bethesda, MD 20817  If you are unable to donate funds, please consider donating your time and talents by volunteering in your local community in memory of Christina.
