Dear Sunday School Families,

We pray you are all well and adjusting slowly in the new rhythm of school reality.

Youth Religious Education (Sunday School) will begin September 20th opening its Virtual Doors to All Saint George’s youth ages 3-18. In-Person lessons’ launch will be delayed for a couple weeks as we work on finalizing some details for the safe return of our youth in the facilities.  Sunday School has designed 5 recovery phases where lessons will gradually move from Virtual to In-Person.

We are looking forward to welcoming our students in our virtual fellowship on Sunday. Please take a few moments to sign your students for Sunday School. Teachers will admit all last year’s students in our virtual classrooms on Sunday but we appreciate your understanding of the importance of enrollment even for returning students for the safety of all children.

Please click HERE to register for Saint George’s Youth Religious Education and other youth programs. The registration is per child.

All grades will receive a welcoming email from teachers with a zoom link for Sunday as well as more information on the lessons. The grades will be grouped for Phase 1 and slowly teachers will be using break out rooms to connect with each grade individually in Phase 2 of our Virtual lessons. Lessons will last between 20- 45 minutes depending the age group.

All 3 year old students will be able to receive a zoom link and information from teachers ONLY if they register as we do not have prior records for them.

The Theme for the 2020-2021 school year is:

“Stewardship of the gifts of the Holy Spirit”

The gifts (fruits) of the Holy Spirit being: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Self Control, Gentleness, and Faithfulness.

We will continue to emphasize the Ambassadors of Faith and Praxis project. This year’s goal will be to sponsor a child from St Innocent Orphanage and Project Mexico, support the Orthodox Mission of Saint John the Merciful in the Washington DC metro area, connect with youth from other Orthodox churches in our broader neighborhood, and learn more about how Orthodoxy is present around the world. Our goal is to become doers of our Faith and to taste the Fruits of the Holy Spirit. We will need your support to achieve this. More information will follow.

For Parents we highly recommend the Orthodox Parenting Virtual Conference with Prof. Mamalakis on Saturday September 19th with a most interesting theme: Difficult Conversations.

We are looking forward to connecting with all our Saint George families again and together work to instill the Truths of our Faith in the hearts of our youth.

In Christ’s service,

The Saint George Youth Religious Education Board (Sunday School)
