Sunday School Message

    We are looking forward to the first day of Sunday School this Sunday, September 15^th. As informed in our previous correspondence, this year, St. George is launching the “Parenting in the Pews Project”, an initiative we’ve adopted to engage younger children to worship together with their families during the Divine Liturgy.

    Starting this Sunday, the Chapel is designated as a worship area for families, where the service and sermon will be geared toward the family unit. Sunday School instruction in classrooms will follow towards the end of the Divine Liturgy for all grades.

    Children enrolled in Pre-K3, Pre-K4, Kindergarten, and 1^st Grade will sit in the Chapel with their families on the left side, which will be reserved for families. Following Holy Communion, parents will bring their children to the back of the Chapel to meet their teachers. The teachers will lead the children to the classroom, and the parents subsequently return to the Chapel for the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy.

    Students enrolled in Grades 2 through 8 will sit in the Chapel with their Sunday School classes and teachers in designated rows on the right side. There will be seating available for parents at the back and on the left side of the Chapel. Following Holy Communion, teachers will lead the students to their Sunday School classrooms.

    Students enrolled in Grades 9 through 12 will sit in the Church main sanctuary with their classes and teachers on the right side. Following Holy Communion, students will go with their teachers to their classrooms for Sunday School instruction.

    At the conclusion of Sunday School instruction at 12:00 noon, students enrolled in Pre-K3 through 3^rd Grade will be picked up from classrooms by parents. Students in 4th through 12^th Grades will be released from their classrooms by their teachers at 12:00pm. Please see the following page with the classroom numbers and teachers for each grade.

    We will hold “Back to Sunday School Day” immediately following the Divine Liturgy in the Chapel on the following dates: September 15^th for Pre-K3 through 2^nd Grade, and September 22^nd at 11:15am for Grades 3 through 12. In this meeting, we will present information regarding the 2019-2020 Sunday School objectives and curricula. Afterwards, parents/guardians will have a brief orientation in their children’s classrooms, where teachers will present an overview of the class syllabus and schedule. Please make every effort to attend.
